Sentinel Node Biopsy: From guidelines to practice | 5 hrs 1
Sentinel node biopsy (SNB) has revolutionised the management of melanoma patients through accurate staging and helping to guide therapeutic decision-making. Learning the subtleties of the technique is essential for surgeons managing patients with melanoma to improve patient outcomes.
Throughout this multimedia deep-dive learning module, leading multidisciplinary experts discuss our latest understanding of SNB and what is involved, and provide you with practical technical advice to improve your surgical technique.
The program covers:- When to recommend a SNB
- Pragmatic challenges of SNB
- Lymphatic mapping overview
- Surgical procurement of sentinel nodes, featuring case studies and surgical videos on SNB procedures in the parotid, neck, axilla, groin and special areas of lymphatic drainage
- Pathological assessment of sentinel nodes
- Practice points and key messages.
The learning module will conclude with a 40-min Knowledge Test and a Certificate of Completion will be provided upon completion.
This learning module is aimed at educating surgeons involved in melanoma management; however, it may also be suitable for other multidisciplinary clinicians involved in the procedure (e.g. pathologists and nuclear medicine physicians). It is best viewed via a desktop browser.
Note: This module is the second stage of the comprehensive SNB Training Program for surgeons. It is expected that you have already completed the first stage of training prior to completing this learning module.

ACCREDITATION
This educational activity has been approved in the RACS CPD Program. RACS Fellows, Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) and surgeons participating in the RACS CPD Program can claim one point per hour in Educational Activities. Participation in this activity will be entered into your RACS CPD which can be accessed through ehub.

Sentinel node biopsy (SNB) has revolutionised the management of melanoma patients through accurate staging and helping to guide therapeutic decision-making. Learning the subtleties of the technique is essential for surgeons managing patients with melanoma to improve patient outcomes.
Throughout this multimedia deep-dive learning module, leading multidisciplinary experts discuss our latest understanding of SNB and what is involved, and provide you with practical technical advice to improve your surgical technique.
The program covers:- When to recommend a SNB
- Pragmatic challenges of SNB
- Lymphatic mapping overview
- Surgical procurement of sentinel nodes, featuring case studies and surgical videos on SNB procedures in the parotid, neck, axilla, groin and special areas of lymphatic drainage
- Pathological assessment of sentinel nodes
- Practice points and key messages.
The learning module will conclude with a 40-min Knowledge Test and a Certificate of Completion will be provided upon completion.
This learning module is aimed at educating surgeons involved in melanoma management; however, it may also be suitable for other multidisciplinary clinicians involved in the procedure (e.g. pathologists and nuclear medicine physicians). It is best viewed via a desktop browser.
Note: This module is the second stage of the comprehensive SNB Training Program for surgeons. It is expected that you have already completed the first stage of training prior to completing this learning module.

LEARNING OUTCOMES- Understand the key roles SNB plays in staging, prognostication and treatment of melanoma.

This educational activity has been approved in the RACS CPD Program.
